Scott Haller – K2CK

I have had a lifelong love of the sciences and technology and became hooked on two-way radio communications when my parents gave me a pair of Radio Shack walkie-talkies for my fifth birthday. I discovered Amateur Radio through my long-time association with the Boy Scouts and finally became licensed as KB2CEU at the age of 18 through a Novice class sponsored by the Rochester (NY) Amateur Radio Association. The comrade and Elmering by members of the Rochester Institute of Technology Amateur Radio Club, K2GXT, provide me solid foundation into the hobby.

After moving from New Jersey to Albany, I earned my General and Extra tickets. Soon afterwards I changed my callsign to K2CK. Glenn Cooper, W2BK, and I brought regular Technician Licensing classes back to Capital District eventually leading to the formation of the Capital Area Radio Enthusiasts group. In 2011, I was selected to be Assistant Director for the ARRL Hudson Division, specializing in training. In addition to education, my ham radio interests include low power operations (QRP), construction and home-brewed electronics, and Dxpeditions (I hold the Bahamian callsign, C6ASH).
